Expansion Plans Up for IP University

New Delhi: One of the renowned universities in Delhi and NCR, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), popularly referred to as IP University, will have exclusive facilities in the coming years. The administration is planning infrastructural development on a large-scale.

Students at IP University are excited with the news of the expansion projects with some stating that the ultimate need is finally observed by the administration. On completion of the proposed expansion project, the University will have some of the finest state-of-the-art infrastructures.

DK Bandopadhyay, Vice Chancellor of IP University, said that the administration is planning to construct a residential campus for the convenience of students, so as to avoid the cost incurred in traveling back and forth. He also clarified that in order to provide the desired facilities, the University has no plans of increasing the program fee as part of the expansion budget.

Bandopadhyay further added that the construction of a sports field has been completed and a swimming pool will be functional in the next two years. To add on, construction of an indoor stadium and an international youth hostel to accommodate 200 students is in progress. This hotel will be an addition to the existing four youth hostels, which, when combined, will accommodate 800 students.

With the sanction of Rs 65 crore by the government, the University plans to utilize the funds in building the School of Architecture and School of Design. However, the administration is waiting for the DDA’s (Delhi Development Administration) approval for constructing a separate college in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi. The 20 acres land set aside for the college will add to the vast 60 acre campus built in Dwarka.
