New Delhi: V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, IGNOU Vice Chancellor, has made the announcement that Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been ranked 15th in India, in terms of its visibility on the internet and scholarly papers on the worldwide web.
As per sources, the ranking was conducted by Spain-based public research institution Cybermetric Lab. It was done on the basis of the number of people who searched the details related to the varsity through four search engines - Google, Yahoo, Live Search and Exalead.
Mr Pillai further said that IGNOU’s web presence is very important. As a university in the open and distance learning space, it is important for an institution like IGNOU to harness technology and use the latest communication tools to reach out to students.
