DTU Conducts Anti-Ragging Workshop on August 10

New Delhi: Delhi Technological University (DTU), earlier the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is conducting a one day workshop on Anti-Ragging: Awareness, Remedies and Action Plan, today i.e. August 10, 2010 at 10.00 am the University auditorium.
 
DTU is organizing the workshop realizing the menace of ragging that can not only ruin student’s spirits, but also adversely affect the physical and psychological well-being of a student for a long time. This year, the University has planned all the precautionary methods to avoid the hazards of ragging. As a result, the University has already created a University level Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squads, and installed CCTV cameras at key locations, to check and deal with any troublesome incident of ragging.
 
The one day workshop is open for the first year students of B.Tech courses, which endeavors to create a better awareness about ragging, safeguards and remedial measures. As per sources, it will be inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. P.B. Sharma and addressed by senior officials of Delhi Police including Ms Chayya Sharma, DCP, Outer Delhi and other educational institutions of the Capital including Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Proctor, Delhi University and Ms. Purnima Singh, Proctor, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
 
In addition, two student representatives from 2nd and 4th year would also address and guide the first year students on the occasion. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion, which will be attended by Deans, Head of Departments and officials of the University. DTU follows the policy of Zero-Tolerance in Ragging.
