New Delhi: On November 23, 2010, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced diploma and certificate programmes in agriculture and allied sectors. An official told that the duration of the diploma programme is of one year, while the certificate programme is of six months duration.
Further, the official informed that the university is offering 50 percent fee concession for students from rural areas and those from Below Poverty Line (BPL). As per sources, the objective of the programme is to train the aspirants for technical and managerial positions.
In addition, sources told that the diploma and certificate programmes include processed products, poultry technology, organic farming and water harvesting, among others. Admissions to the aforesaid courses are open till November 30, 2010.
