Shillong: Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM-Shillong), through its Centre for Development of NER (CEDNER), has introduced a six-month certificate course on developing managerial skills for entrepreneurs.
Sources have informed that the students for the course were drawn from the local community at its Mayurbhanj Palace Complex on Saturday (i.e. on July 3, 2011) under the course directorship of Keya Sengupta. A total of 30 students were selected for the course from the entire NER after a thorough screening procedure.
IIM director AK Dutta said that they have been consistent with their efforts to bring about improvement of poverty with a comprehensive concept of growth and development within the host region. He also added that CEDNER has become an essential entity by various stakeholders in the NER, because of its committed stance and efforts that aim at responding to the local needs.
While speaking at the occasion, Union Doner Minister BK Handique highly praised the efforts of CEDNER. He also expressed his hope that the institute would continue to motivate a transformation in the mindset and the overall approach of the youth towards enhancing their managerial skills and entrepreneurial aptitude.
Earlier, CEDNER was known as the Accelerated Learning Centre (ALC). CEDNER had been constituted since the inception of IIM Shillong. The body is concerned with organizing both short term and long term programmes, which is relevant to the local community and society of the state as well as the region.
