Panjab University's 60th Annual Convocation to be Held on February 14, 2011

Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU) is going to celebrate its 60th annual convocation on February 14, 2011. Rehearsal for the convocation ceremony will be held on February 13, 2011, in the university gymnasium, at 11.00 am. Governor of Punjab and Administrator Union Territory Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V Patil will address the convocation.
 
The university will honor several famous personalities by conferring them degrees of Doctor of Science/Literature/Laws (honoris causa) and Vigyan Ratna. The personalities, which are going to be honored at the convocation ceremony, include renowned author and celebrated journalist, Khushwant Singh. Mr. Singh will be awarded with Doctor of Literature degree for his remarkable contribution in the field of journalism.
 
Besides, PU will honor the Lok Sabha former speaker Mr. Som Nath Chatterjee with Doctor of Laws degree. Apart from these, Professor A K Sood (department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore), Professor Shenggen Fan (Director General, International Food Policy Research Institute, Washington, D C USA) and Professor C N R Rao, National Research Professor and Honorary President and Linus Pauling Research Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Bangalore) will also going to be honor at the convocation.
