New Delhi: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) University has introduced M Sc (Master of Science) programme in Climate Science and Policy. The programme has been launched with the aim of providing quality research and practical understanding of climate science so as to improve the ecological adversity.
Rajiv Seth, Registrar, TERI University, said that the irresponsible behavior of human being has badly affected the equilibrium of the environment and there is a unanimous acknowledgement of the changes in the environment induced by man. As such, it is the need of time to educate humans through a programme to promote an understanding of climate policy, integrating the industry with academics for sustainable business models.
Students will be introduced to the basics in the first semester. However, in the second semester, they will have options to choose an area of specialization in multidisciplinary manner. In the third semester, students shall have to select a stream from environment modeling, hydrology, water treatment, etc. for their research and project work, which will be performed in the final semester. During their research work, students will be guided by a faculty member so as to prepare an industry-based project. A thesis shall have to be prepared by the candidates at the end of the final semester, Mr Seth further added.
The programme will be conducted under the able guidance of V Ramanathan, Director, Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, Scripps Institute of Oceanography, United States of America (USA). Initially, the course will have only 15 seats. Admission seekers will have to pay an application fee of Rs 50,000 per semester.
