New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has launched ICICI Bank Trinity Programme on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in a launching ceremony organized by the University Placement Cell and Entrepreneurship Club on today i.e. on April 4, 2013, at 3:00 pm, in the Seminar Hall of the University's FTK-Centre for Information Technology.
Academic stalwarts, namely, Professor Tasneem Meenai, DSW, Professor Khan Masood, Dean, Faculty of Social Science and Professor U M Amin, Director, Centre for Management Studies and Zonal Head & Senior Manager of ICICI Bank, Mr Akshay Chaturvedi were present in the launching ceremony and gave their expert reviews on the possibilities of the programme.
Moreover, the University has signed MoU with the ICICI Bank for providing a platform to young minds so as to promote the innovation in the field of banking, financial services and insurance. The programme consists of three main stages - Ideate, Prototype and Be an Entrepreneur.
As per sources, teams who showcase successful prototypes shall be awarded with cash prize upto Rs 25, 00,000 and will also be invited to present their plans before the bank's investor panel at the entrepreneurship stage. If the panel selects the plan, teams will receive financial help from the bank in establishing their venture.
Earlier, ICICI Bank partnered with the IIT Delhi, Delhi Technological University, IIIT Hyderabad, College of Engineering Pune, Thapar University Patiala, VJTI Mumbai, PEC Punjab and HBTI Kanpur, for the first phase of innovation and entrepreneurship programme conducted in the year 2012.
Around 400 students from the 10 premier engineering institutions participated in the previous year's programme and as many as 9 ideas were selected for prototype development from 100 concepts. Also, nine teams got 50, 000 cash prize after the Idea Presentation Round. The jury for evaluating prototype included industry veterans from organizations like DST, CDAC, CIIE-IIMA & the leadership team of ICICI Group, sources also added.
