DU FMS to Relocate to South Campus

Delhi University’s (DU’s), Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) will relocate to south campus by 2013. Presently, it is located in the north campus. The decision was taken to shift because the faculty was facing space problem.

Raj S Dhankar, newly-appointed Dean of FMS, said that they always wanted to shift their base to south campus because the space available at north campus was never sufficient enough. He added that they need a much bigger space with four-storied building and three times more space than the present one. And everything will be possible in the new campus. Besides, he mentioned that in the last decade the number of students at FMS has increased four times.

The upcoming FMS campus will have all inclusive facilities of complete residential school. It will be constructed keeping in mind the leading business schools of today. Mr Dinkar added that the new campus will have everything, like lecture halls, conference halls, spacious faculty rooms, libraries and two hostels, one each for boys and girls.

Mr Dhankar informed that though there is a hostel facility on north campus too, however, it is not spacious enough to accommodate more than 40 to 50 students. But the hostels at the new campus would be able to lodge almost all the students (1200 students). Besides, the new campus being closer to the industrial area like Gurgaon, it is anticipated to offer better corporate exposure to the students.

Furthermore, Mr Dinkar mentioned that once their target of shifting to south campus is attained, they might also come up with new programmes and course. Presently, the evening programmes, which are part-time MBA programmes are already being re-structured.
